Tonskalv is a promising quartet operating in the fields of contemporary Swedish folk music. Their unique constellation (electric bass, fiddles, flute and voice) allows them to interpret traditional tunes in a modern and open-minded way. Focusing on female musicians from the past, they bring unheard melodies and stories to life. Alongside this, they also compose original materials for the band. Tonskalv is not afraid of creaking bows or spicing things up with groovy bass lines, and the listener can expect an interesting blend of improvisation, clever arrangements and storytelling.
